To everyone in our class, I'm looking forward to a reunion next year. I would like to thank Don for his phone calls and e-mails as well as Christy, Buzz, and Greg who are trying to put this reunion together. Our family has fond memories of Immanuel and Colorado Springs. Like John K and Greg P, I was a military brat which meant our family moved every few years. In Jan. 1966, we moved to Tokyo Japan where I finished 8th and my freshman, soph. years at Narimasu HS. We moved the summer of 68' to Ft. Benning Georgia where I completed HS. In school I played sports: football, basketball, track, and cross-country. After HS my father was again transferred to Frankfurt Germany. I went to the University of Maryland in Munich Germany for a few years and a year at a military college in north Georgia. I had a chance to travel Europe and Middle East by train, car, bike and also hitch-hiked the USA. I left the cool, damp climate of Munich Germany for the dry heat of Tucson, Arizona where I graduated from the University of Arizona with a B.S. in biology. I also picked up a teaching certificate from the U of A and taught Jr. High math for 9 years. I met my wife Kathy (also a teacher) at the same school. I was involved in bike racing and took her to a bike race in Bisbee Az. for our first date--(not too romantic Gary!). We were married in Dec. 1984. I enjoyed teaching, was involved in the school, I was the director of student activities, ran a bike club, helped to produce several yearbooks, organized after- school dances and in general had a lot of fun. But, I wanted to have two careers-one as a teacher and the other as a physical therapist. So, in June of 1986 I left teaching and went to Northern Arizona University for their program in physical therapy. My wife Kathy continued to teach in Tucson while I was up in Flagstaff, Az. I graduated with a B.S. in physical therapy and started working at Kino Community Hosp. (the county hosp.) as a staff physical therapist. I have worked at the county hosp. for the past 15 years as a staff therapist, Sr. PT involved with clinical education and for the past 7 years as director of physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. Kathy and I have a 9 y/o daughter named Alyssa who is bright, talented and beautiful. She got all these traits from her mother. Alyssa is going to school at our church, Fountain of Life. Alyssa enjoys everything about the church and school. My sister Jean has asked me " Gary, is it like Immanuel ? " and I tell her " Yes Jean it is just like Immanuel." Again, I had such wonderful memories of friends at Immanuel , LVR, sports, parties, choir etc. I am looking forward to a class reunion to catch up with friends-it has only been 38 years.
See You Soon,
Gary
