Here’s a test, see if you can guess which of the following I have actually done.
1) Hunted bear in the northern Rocky Mountains armed with only a knife.
2) Got married just before going to an Oakland Raiders game and cheered for John Madden and (choke) the Raiders.
3) Won $2.8 million in the Colorado Lotto in 1999.
4) Raced a stock car for a couple of years.
5) Was threatened with death by machine gun fire in a Mexican prison.
6) Dug the grave, built the coffin and buried Eddie Hall, a member of Buffalo Bill Cody’s Wild West Show.
7) Wrote software for the US Olympic Hockey team that beat the Russians in 1980.
8) Spent a day hiking in the mountains with Paul McCartney, several hours of which were spent trying to get him off a rock in the middle of a small river where he was afraid to jump to the next rock.
9) Spent a summer living with the Indians in British Columbia as a short-term missionary.

Ok, Ron Bruns will tell you that Paul McCartney was really a kid from Denver we went to college with who happens to have the same name as the Beatle and you don’t really think I would announce it if I had won the lotto do you? I do, however, feel like I have won the lotto because of God’s blessing of a life rich in friends, family and experiences.

After attending (well, most of the time) Colorado State University where Ron was one of my roommates, I moved to Sacramento, California. There I enjoyed a great job (paid almost nothing) working with the high school group for a large church. I met Sandi, the California girl of my dreams and married her. After five years in California we moved back to Colorado Springs where we got a two for one deal on kids. We had twins, Becki and Phil who have become the joy of our lives. In 1980 we moved to Littleton, Colorado (South Denver suburb).

Becki graduated from Colorado Christian University last year in Psychology. Two weeks later she married Richard Dierenfield, a young ex-marine who loves the Lord and we love as one of our own children. Becki is in the process of leaving a job and people she loves at an assisted care facility to work with Sandi in an oil and gas company. They live five miles from us in Centennial, Colorado. Last week Phil graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in Journalism with an emphasis in Advertising and Public Relations. He plans to spend the summer playing (reminds me of his dad) before hitting the job market.

I am a software developer and have worked for years for a company writing accounting and imaging software for large construction companies. Sandi has been in the oil and gas industry for twenty years. She works for Williams Energy Services as a Division Order Analyst.

I am amazed how often the people of Immanuel find their way into my thoughts and dreams and look forward to reuniting with you. Some of the experiences listed above pale a bit when you know the real story. I have been reading the information about our classmates on this web page and count it a privilege to be listed with you.
